SCULPTING MEMORY
The “Sculpting memory” program” aims to collect oral testimonies of people working with marble or iron in the past, their families, residents of the area as well as representatives of the community in the Exo Meria region of Tinos.
In particular, the recording of oral testimonies will highlight different dimensions of the history of marble work and ironwork, local history and especially the economic and social conditions that contributed to the development during the pre-industrial period of the local workshops in Tinos.

Digital repository of oral and photographic testimonies with the recording of life narratives with semi-structured interviews, material testimonies, marble processing tools (quarrying and marble crafting), photographs and their documentation.
The use of new technologies will allow the interconnection of people and places, laboratory and outdoor, natural paths related to the history of marble work and iron technology on the island.
The Program includes activities of cooperation and communication with the community, education and artistic expression and is the beginning for the development of a wider network of the history of marble work and ironwork in the Cyclades, in the Greek area but also in the Balkan and Mediterranean countries, where marble and metal were and are an important tradable good throughout time.
